DIGITAL POSTERIOR RESTORATIONS From preparation/IDS to CAD/CAM, 3D Printing & Adhesive Delivery
IN A NUTSHELL: A hands-on digital workflow for restoring large posterior defects using IDS, CAD/CAM, milling and 3D printing. Participants will learn how to prepare, design, customize, and adhesively deliver advanced inlays, onlays, overlays, veneerlays, and endocrown restorations, while understanding how to select the appropriate CAD/CAM material and integrate biomimetic principles throughout the process.
Restoring large defects (in surface or volume) in posterior teeth using BRD techniques inevitably involves CAD/CAM technologies, either chairside (semi-direct) or through a dental laboratory (semi-indirect). There is a plethora of CAD/CAM materials, and this module will help clinicians not only make the best choice based on science, experience, and common sense, but also master the “next level” of inlays, onlays, and endocrowns using immediate dentin sealing (IDS). After an overview of the classification and indications of so-called semi-(in)direct restorative techniques, including CAD/CAM systems, the hands-on session will cover the fundamentals of large intracoronal tooth preparations and the use of short-fiber composite resin liners and build-ups. Following a concise scientific update, the relevance of dentin bonding and IDS will be discussed in detail and immediately followed by hands-on practice of large onlay and veneerlay preparations. After reviewing CAD/CAM materials, the final part of the course will focus on the fabrication and thermo-modified cementation of large CAD/CAM lithium disilicate and 3D-printed composite resin overlays, including their customization using coloring techniques.
Who should attend: New and experienced dentists, as well as dental technicians.
